So you’re looking a fun way to celebrate Halloween with your family.  It needs to be safe.  Mildly spooky at most – we don’t want the kids to have nightmare for weeks!  And, you’d like to be able to leave with more than cob webs in your account.  Well, you’ve come to right place.

Check out our list of Halloween festivities, right here in Southeast Texas.  And the best part – all of them are under $10.

Spindletop Spookfest

Gladys City gets spooky for Halloween! Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum, on the Lamar University campus, will host Spindletop Spookfest with trick or treating through the boomtown and fun activities for “ghouls” and “goblins” of all ages.

Meet some people of the past, play ghostly games and go trick-or-treating! Lamar University students will be handing out candy and leading the games. Gladys City will be a fun, safe place to bring the kids and celebrate Halloween.

McFaddin-Ward House Fall Picnic

Step inside the fence to MWH’s Annual Fall Picnic and Outdoor Movie! Everyone is invited to this all-community affair. The theme is HALLOWEEN, so come dressed in your favorite costume, and we’ll trick or treat on the grounds. Bring candy to share, lawn chairs, blankets, tables, food, beverages, games, your kids, and we’ll do this rest. (No doggies or cigarettes, though. Poo on the shoe is yucky, dog fights at our feet are scary, and our house burning down is too terribly sad to imagine. Thanks for understanding!)

 Outdoor Movie - We’re showing MONSTER HOUSE on a giant screen on the lawn. This adorable, animated, frightfully fun film stars the voices of Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Face painting, art show on the porch with Ines Alvidres, Katy Whitney and the Draw, Gringeaux’s Food Truck, arts, crafts, games, and first floor tours are all yours to enjoy. 

BPD Cops & Kids: Trunk or Treat and Haunted Jail

The Beaumont Police Department will host Cops & Kids Trunk-or-Treat and Haunted Jail at the Beaumont Civic Center. This safe, free Halloween alternative is provided for school aged children and their parents.

Officers from the police Department's specialized tactical units will be on hand to give away sweets, treats and safety tips at the Beaumont Civic Center. The Beaumont Police Station Haunted Jail will also be open for tours in the basement of the police station for those who are brave enough to dare! Don't miss this spook-tacular good time!!

Free Family Arts Day: Eat a Bug!

“Eat a Bug!” Family Arts Day is one of AMSET’s most popular events, where children and their families are tempted to try the creepy, crawly delicacy of fried crickets. Hands-on art activities focus on the many cultures of our region and the main gallery exhibition.

Visitors will learn about the current exhibit on view through hands-on art activities as well as Day of the Dead and Latin American crafts such as decorated sugar skulls, cut paper designs and piñatas. Entertainment includes Latin American music and dancing. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. 

Free Family Arts Day are held quarterly at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas. Admission is always free and kid-friendly events relate to current exhibits at the museum. Refreshments and lively entertainment are also provided.

Saturday Adventure Series:  Bat Buddies

We’re all going batty! Creepy critters of the night. Do they give you a great fright? Come to Shangri La and see. Bats are friends to you and me! Just in time for Halloween & fun for the whole family!

Trick or Treat at Parkdale Mall

Visit Parkdale Mall October 31 at 5pm for a mall-wide trick-or-treat event. Enjoy a safe and friendly trick-or-treating environment with our participating retailers!  Participating retailers will display a sign in their window.

This event is for children ages 12 and under. Please no costumes or masks for adults. While supplies last.

Mall-O-Ween

Trick or Treat at Central Mall Port Arthur on Monday, October 31st!  Children 12 and under will begin at 6 p.m. and continue while supplies last.

Safety and security is a top priority at the Central Mall. While Mall-O-Ween is designed as a family-friendly trick-or-treat event at the mall, this year we are enacting additional precautionary measures to promote a safe environment for our retailers and guests.  All guests who enter Central Mall wearing a scary, gory, and inappropriate or clown costume/mask will be asked to remove it. Our highly trained security staff will be in place to encourage an enjoyable and safe community celebration.
